MARGAO
Even as the government has finally filed up the void at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao by nominating film maker Rajendra Talak as its Chairman, a section of the city-ruling BJP has charged that most of the members on the Ravindra Bhavan General Council are close aides and supporters of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Former Fatorda MLA Damu Naik.
In fact, this BJP section, who style themselves as original workers have conveyed their sentiments to the state party leadership vis-Ã -vis the constitution of the Ravindra Bhavan and its General Council, with a senior member asserting that the General Council is stuffed with members owing allegiance to Digambar Kamat and Damu Naik. “We have conveyed our sentiments to the party bosses in Panjim since the original workers who had kept the party flag flying in the last 17 years have not got a place on the General Council’, remarked a city-based BJP leader.
Another city-based BJP leader said he now no longer believes in the original BJP and those who have joined the party. He pointed out that the powers that be ought to have taken care and precaution that the members on the Council were a blend of old and new.
“Of the 10 members on the General Council, it is apparent most of the members have been close to both Digambar and Damu, barring one or two exceptions”, he added.
Amongst the members on the General Council, are MMC Councilors from Fatorda, Milagrina Gomes and Shweta Lotlikar, ex-Congress block Chief Gopal Naik and former MMC Councilor Dhananjay Mayekar. Paresh Naik is the BJP ZIlla Panchayat member representing Davorlim ZP Constituency.
