CANACONA
Upset over the killing of domestic and wild animals with the use of bombs, complaints have been lodged against unknown persons with the Canacona Police and forests officials.
Canacona police on Wednesday registered an FIR after the pet dog of a British national was killed by a bomb at a forested area of Agonda.
According to sources, some people have been planting bombs in various parts of the forest to kill wild animals like wild boars.
The Briton, Alex Carpenter, found his dog killed with the face blown off when he and two other locals were walking on the path at Savri-Gullem Agonda.
“Remember I was saying that people are planting bombs around me every night for 6 weeks? My dog’s face was blown off directly on a path, 3 metres away from where I was walking with 2 locals and 2 kids. And one time soon it will be a kid or a person,” Carpenter wrote in a WhatsApp group, before submitting complaints to the police and forest officials.
Acting on a complaint, a police team visited the place to investigate the incident and Lady PSI Rifa Barretto is investigating the case under the supervision of newly posted Canacona PI Pravin Gawas.
Incidentally, several farmers in Canacona have bitterly complained that wild boars have been destroying their paddy crops.
