Calangute Police arrested two persons on charges of illegal possession of narcotic substances worth Rs 6.90 lakh.
The accused Ashish Kumar Jha (27) and Rajan Kumar Jha, both natives of Rajasthan, were apprehended when they came to deliver drugs to probable customers.
Acting on specific information, police conducted a raid and arrested the duo near Bosio Hospital, Candolim, while they were looking out for probable customers.
During the personal search, a black-coloured tube-shaped substance suspected to be charas weighing 702 grams worth Rs. 5.6 lakh and a greenish colour leafy substance suspected to be ganja and weighing 1,342 grams worth Rs 1.30 lakh was found in their possession.
Police registered an offence against the two accused under the NDPS Act 1985.
The raid was carried out by PSI Viraj Naik, Kiran Naik, Head Constable Vidhyanand Amonkar and PC Amir Garad, Ganpat Tiloji, Vijay Naik under the overall supervision of Calangute PI Dattaguru Sawant. Calangute Police is investigating further.
