Verna police led by PI Diogo Gracias rescued a 23-year-old woman and booked a 73-year-old man on charges of procuring a girl for the purpose of prostitution.
The 73-year-old man from Verna was booked under Sections 370-A (2) and Sections 3,4,5,6 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act 1956.
“The 23-year-old woman from Ahmedabad was found with the decoy customer in the act of prostitution in a flat near the Agnel Ashram School and she was later rescued from the flat,” said a source.
“The accused was found to be using the flat for the purpose of prostitution activities in close proximity to a public school. He was found to be living on the earnings of the prostitution activity and using the flat as a brothel.”
Verna PI Diago Gracias is investigating the case under the supervision of DySP Rajesh Kumar.
