With an aim to provide an outdoor leisure facility for people of all ages, the Calangute panchayat has set up a ‘Futsal, Children’s & Fitness Park’ at Poriat, Naikavaddo in Calangute.Calangute Sarpanch, Shawn Martins informed that the facility will help people to meet at one place and have fun.
“We thought of the place as a community centre where people from different age groups like the toddlers, kids, children, youth, adults and senior citizens can come and meet at one place. We have everything for all,” Martins said.
There is a small park for kids as small as one-year-old, outdoor fitness gym for the youth and 300 metre walking track for the elderly citizens.
“The futsal area is one of the biggest grounds available for the sport in the State. Those interested can play the game at a nominal cost and playing time has been fixed from 4 pm to 11 pm,” Sarpanch said.
He said the facility has been set up with funds provided by Rural Development Agency (RDA), panchayat and CSR activity.
The ‘Futsal, Children’s & Fitness Park will be inaugurated on December 22 where DGP ID Shukla has consented to be the chief guest. Minister for Rural Development, Michael Lobo and others will also be present.
