The Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) on Friday received five oxygen concentrators for Covid patients in the hospital. The South Goa Collector handed over the five oxygen concentrators to Canacona Mamlatdar Vimod Dalal and he, in turn, handed them over to CHC Medical Officer Dr Satish Komarpant and Head Nurse Prashant Devidas.
Voicing concern over the number of Covid cases in the taluka, Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes had informed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during his visit to Canacona on Thursday that the CHC is in urgent need of lifesaving equipment.
Fernandes highlighted the risks involved in taking Covid patients to Margao, a time-consuming exercise which has turned fatal in some cases.
Responding to the MLA’s demands, Sawant directed the South Goa collector to allot some oxygen contractors for Covid patients at the Canacona CHC.
