CANACONA
Claiming that loud music and fireworks along Canacona municipality’s coast late at night has disturbed the sick, elderly and students preparing for board exams, a resident of Canacona has asked the police to initiate action in the matter.
In a letter to the Canacona Police, Abhay Dhuri of Canacona said it has become difficult to common people to lead normal lives due to loud sound pollution and fireworks at restaurants in the beaches from Rajbag-Tarir to Palolem.
“Std 12 board examinations are beginning from Wednesday, besides Std 10 students are also preparing for their 2nd term board examinations. They find it very disturbing and very difficult to study in the noise pollution caused by playing loud music and lighting fireworks in the beach areas.”
He added that the sick and elderly also face difficulties due to the night-long sound and air pollution caused by loud music and fireworks at the coastal restaurants and shacks.
Dhuri has requested all department officers/representatives concerned to issue proper instructions to shack/restaurants owners and to take immediate action against activities like playing of loud music and lighting fireworks at night and in the wee hours.
Dhuri has also marked copies to Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, Deputy Collector, Mamlatdar, DySP and other authorities.
