Candidate in quarantine files nomination via election agent

VASCO
Having recently tested positive for Covid did not stop an aspiring candidate from submitting his nomination form through his election agent on Tuesday.

According to sources, the candidate had reportedly recovered from Covid but was still within a period of his home isolation and hence, could not move out of his house.

"Considering that he did not want to put others at risk and since Friday was the last date to file his nomination, he decided to file his nomination paper and send it through his election agent. The nomination form was submitted and duly accepted as well," said the source.

Desai confirmed having received a nomination from a candidate, who had recently tested positive, through his election agent.

"Yes, we received one such nomination from a candidate who had tested positive. When a candidate cannot personally come and submit his nomination, his proposer can come with the nomination form and file it on his behalf," said Desai.
