MARGAO: Piety Cardozo is the new deputy Sarpanch of the village panchayat of Sao Jose de Areal.
In the elections held on Friday, Piety defeated Marcelino Galdino for the vacant post.
Election for the post was necessitated following the ouster of deputy Sarpanch Valente Fernandes.
