The Economic Offences Cell (EOC) on Thursday arrested a tour agency operator for allegedly cheating a Kerala tourist of Rs 91,000 by promising a travel package with services at hotels in India and abroad.
The arrested accused has been identified as 48-year-old Gaurish Shirodkar, proprietor of Beatriz Holidays Pvt Ltd.
According to the complaint, Akshay M V, a resident of Kozhikode city in Kerala, alleged that prior to December 19, 2025, at Anjuna, Gaurish Shirodkar and Geetesh Shirodkar, acting with common intention, allegedly induced him during a visit to Goa as a tourist to purchase a travel package worth Rs 91,000. The accused allegedly offered service benefits and tour packages through their tie-ups with various hotels in India and abroad.
"However, when the complainant tried to avail of the promised benefits, the accused allegedly failed to provide the tour services and also did not refund the amount, resulting in an alleged loss of Rs 91,000 to the complainant. Gaurish Shirodkar has been arrested," the EOC said.
