Amid declining Covid cases and a rise in dengue cases in the area, the Chicalim Sub District Hospital (SDH) is now planning to admit dengue patients in the hospital.
“Covid cases have significantly reduced and the hospital has only 35 per cent occupancy at present. However, many dengue cases are being reported at the hospital,” said Chicalim SDH Health Officer and Medical Superintendent Dr Anil Umraskar.
“However, we are all prepared to have one ward for dengue patients and with the same team of efficient doctors and staff, we plan to admit these patients, treat them and help them recover from from dengue," said Dr Umraskar.
“Before this hospital was converted into a Covid hospital, we were admitting all general patients and conducting regular OPDs. As Covid cases rose sharply, we began operating the SDH as a Covid hospital from May 3.”
“It initially had 30 beds and we added another 5 beds. Today, we are functioning as a 35-bedded Covid hospital, but Covid cases have been on the decline and the hospital has only 35 per cent occupancy at present,” said Dr Umraskar.
