Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said he has asked the State government to provide additional staff and equipment to the Chicalim Sub District Hospital (SDH).
He said an operation theatre would soon be made functional, while 80 beds would be added to the existing capacity at the hospital.
The minister was speaking to reporters after Jindal South West (JSW) company handed over Covid-19 medical kits to the Chicalim SDH in the presence of Health Officer Dr Anil Umraskar ZP Member Anita Thorat, MMC Vice Chairperson Shraddha Mahale, Dr Vivek Pillai and others.
“This is my sixth visit to Chicalim SDH in the last one month and I am eager to improve facilities at the hospital.”
“The JSW has provided a large number of equipment, including mattresses, oxymeters, thermometers, sanitizers, oxygen flow meters and scrub suits under its CSR activity. They have also given some equipment to the Curchorem hospital and MPT Hospital,” said Godinho.
The minister lauded corporates in Vasco for coming together to support the government and the people during the pandemic by providing equipment in government hospitals.
“There has been considerable improvement at the Chicalim SDH with better facilities and a great team of doctors and medical staff. I have also informed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the health minister to provide us with additional staff and equipment at the Chicalim SDH.”
“We will soon have an operation theatre functional and we will also add another 80 beds at the hospital,” Godinho added.
