The Tika Utsav 3 Covid vaccination drive for those in the 18+ age group in Canacona will begin from Sunday.
Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) Health Officer Dr Jose Tavares said all those eligible to receive the vaccine will be required to produce ID proof and vaccinations camps will be conducted in all villages and the municipality.
In addition, there will be a fixed vaccination centre at the Government Higher Secondary School in Mastimol (Opposite the Canacona police station) on all days from 9 am to 5 pm.
The Tika Utsav 3 camps from 9 am to 5 pm will be conducted at Khola panchayat (June 13 and 14), Loliem-Polem Panchayat (June 14, 15 and 16), Shradhanand High School, Poinguinim (June 17, 18 and 19), Government High School, Agonda (June 20, 21, 22), Shristhal G.M. Hall (June 23 and 24), Government High School, Gaondongrim (June 25, 26 and 27) and Cotigao Panchayat Hall (June 28, 29 and 30).
Dr Tavares further informed that 82% of people in the 45-plus age group have been vaccinated in Canacona taluka.
Mobile campaign
Acting on the advice of Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes for concerted efforts to vaccinate people in rural areas of Canacona taluka, the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) will conduct a mobile vaccination campaign for the first time in Cotigao.
The mobile vaccination campaign in coordination with deputy collector and mamlatdar of Canacona will be conducted on June 14, 15 and 16 to cover people in the remote areas like Keri, Badsarem, Yeda Baddem, Mahal-Baddem etc.
“The medical team will move around in the mobile van and vaccinate people, so that more people in remote areas can be vaccinated,” said Fernandes.
Meanwhile, 10 new Covid cases were detected on Saturday, taking the number of active cases to 104 in Canacona taluka.
