Taking cognisance of a complaint by Chicalim Youth Farmers Club (CYFC), the Chicalim panchayat on Saturday issued a stop-work notice regarding hill-cutting activity in the village.The stop-work notice was issued by Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav, with a copy marked to the complainants CYFC, CYFC Mentor and Chicalim Parish Priest Fr Bolmax Pereira and the ward panch member in Chicalim.
"Whereas it has been brought to the notice of this panchayat through the President, CYFC, stating that extensive hill cutting is underway in Gina, Village Chicalim, with earth moving machinery and that the said area is classified as A2 which is Non-Development and high gradient,” states the notice.
“Therefore, you are hereby directed to stop the above mentioned illegal activity from the date of receipt of this notice and also directed to produce title documents, permissions and licence issued by authorities concerned, if any, within a period of three days from the receipt of this notice, which may please be noted seriously, failing which this panchayat will initiate action against you as per the Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994. This is for your strict compliance," the stop-work notice added.
