The family of the Chimbel local who was murdered finally took possession of the body and performed final rites on Wednesday.According to the information available, the family accepted the body of Jayesh Chodankar in the morning and performed the final rites in the afternoon at Mapusa.
It may be recalled that Chodankar’s family had refused to accept his body due to the reluctance of the police to probe his death as murder, after which the police had registered a murder case on late Monday night.
Meanwhile, the Old Goa police informed that the court has extended the police custody of the two accused, Krupesh Volvoikar and Pritesh Adkonkar, by five days.
