Chimbel panch held on assault charges

Chimbel Panch Mohan Narve was arrested by Old Goa police on Tuesday on charges of assaulting a resident from Indira Nagar.

Though detailed information was not immediately available, reliable sources said the incident is alleged to have occurred in the cabin of the Chimbel sarpanch on Tuesday morning, when the resident was called to reply to a complaint lodged against him by another resident.

During the talks, the resident and Narve got into a heated argument and Narve was accused to have assaulted the resident.

Narve and the resident filed counter-complaints against each other at the Old Goa police station and both were sent for a medical examination. Police later arrested Narve and is conducting further investigations in the matter.
