MARGAO
Demanding the arrest of former RSS chief Subhash Velingkar for demanding a DNA test of St Francis Xavier, former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao on Wednesday said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be responsible for any untoward incident arising in the State over Velingkar’s remarks.
Churchill told the media that either the Chief Minister should have Velingkar arrested or he should take responsibility for any law and order situation.
“The time has come to do a DNA test on Subhash Velingkar. He is preparing the ground to disrupt communal harmony in Goa at someone’s behest. We Hindus, Christians and Muslims have been living peacefully in Goa, but some Velingkar is out to destroy this age-old communal peace and amity,” he said.
Sounding a warning, Churchill said the people of Goa would come to take Velingkar for a DNA test.
“The sentiments of all people venerating St Francis Xavier, be they Christians and Hindus, get hurt when people like Velingkar speak against St Francis Xavier,” he said.
He said the time has come for the Chief Minister to reflect on whether Goa is safe and whether he is protecting the people of Goa.
“The Chief Minister should protect the people. If not, the peace and harmony will be destroyed. We cannot tolerate this. If there are any problems, the Chief Minister will be held responsible. Otherwise, the Chief Minister should have Velingkar arrested,” he demanded.
