In yet another display of honesty and professionalism, CISF personnel deployed at Dabolim Airport on Friday returned a bag with Rs 4.85 lakh in cash to a passenger who had arrived from Mumbai but had forgotten the bag at the airport.
According to a press note issued by CISF SI Dayanand, the incident took place at about 1.56 pm, when an unattended bag was spotted by arrival area duty personnel Ct/GD R Pradhan near arrival belt 2 and 3.
"The same was immediately reported to the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team. The BDDS team reached the spot and searched the unattended bag as per SOP.”
“After a search, the bag was declared safe and the physical search was done by BDDS & CIW staff. During the course of physical search, cash of Rs 4,85,800 was found in the bag," stated the press note.
"During the course of physically checking the bag, a pen with a name inscribed on it was also found. With the help of CCTV footage, the passenger was traced to find out the flight from which the passenger had arrived.”
“Then with the help of the name inscribed on the pen, the passenger details like name and contact number were found out from Indigo Airlines. The passenger was contacted and after identifying the owner, the bag along with all the cash of Rs 4,85,800 was handed over to the owner," said the press release.
Barely two weeks ago, the CISF security found an unclaimed bag containing jewellery worth Rs 5.5 lakh at Dabolim Airport and managed to locate the passenger, before handing over the bag containing the jewellery to her.
