Citizens call for streamlining Aadhaar services in Margao

MARGAO
Citizens have called for streamlining of the Aadhaar services at the South Goa district Collectorate with many a citizen claiming that they could not lay their hands on the tokens despite making it at the centre early morning.

Director of Planning and Statistics, Dr Durga Prasad, however, pointed out that citizens need not make a rush at the Aadhaar centre located at the South Goa district Collectorate when the banks have started the services again.

That’ s not all. Dr Prasad told The Goan that it has been decided that the Aadhaar service will be made available at the Citizens Services Centres, once they are opened at the taluka level.

Serpentine queue of citizens at the Aadhaar centre at the South Goa district Collectorate is literally the order of the day. Citizens are seen making a beeline at the centre as early as 7 in the morning, just to lay their hands on the tokens as the centre accepts only restricted number of people every day.

Many a citizen have claimed that they had to return home disappointed as they could not lay their hands on the tokens. “The Aadhaar centre in the South Goa district Collectorate  accepts only limited number of people in a day. More often than not, people have to return home without laying their hands on the tokens,” remarked a citizen.

When The Goan called up the Director of Planning and Statistics Dr Durga Prasad, said that citizens should not crowd at the Collectorate, but exercise the option of availing services at the banks.

He even said that people can exercise the option of enrolling themselves online by going on the site.
