Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha Thursday inspected the existing railway tracks in Velsao, Pale and Cansaulim.
The inspection of the existing tracks by Sawant and Saldanha was kept a secret, with neither the media, activists or villagers informed about the site inspection.
Sources confirmed to The Goan that the chief minister and Cortalim MLA closely inspected the tracks and the proximity of the tracks from the houses.
"They inspected the tracks at Pale, Velsao and Cansaulim. The inspection was conducted amid secrecy and residents and media were not informed about the inspection,” said a source.
“The proximity of the existing tracks to heritage houses in these villages was also inspected.”
“We are hoping the chief minister will consider the pleas of people against the double-tracking, after having personally inspected the existing tracks and proximity of the tracks to the houses, especially some heritage houses," the source added.
