Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) Chairperson Simon Rebello and his group of councillors have decided to boycott the inauguration of the toilet block at Palolem beach.
“Neither the ward councillor or any of the ruling councillors members, including myself, received any invitation or intimation from tourism authorities planning to inaugurate the Palolem Toilet Block on Friday.
“How can we attend (the event) when we don't have an invitation for the ceremony organised by tourism authorities without any intimation or concurrence of the municipal council? The land belongs to municipal council and the project license is also in the name of CMC,” said Rebello.
Rebello also claimed that names mentioned on the plaque are not as per protocol in practice.
“It seems that tourism authorities are hell-bent to portray the CMC in bad light,” he added.
