The S G Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi, celebrated ‘Teachers Day’ and ‘Engineers Day’ at its campus in Nehrunagar, here. In his address, Dr Allamaprabhu Mahaswamiji briefed about the achievements, contributions of the Sir M Visvesvaraiah and Dr Sarvapalli Radhaakrishnan .
“Discharge duties honestly and apply yourselves in studies which will make the celebration of these days more meaningful and worthy,” Mahaswamiji advised the students and teachers.
Chairman of the Governing Council Dr F V Manvi, who presided over the function, said the qualities of a good engineer and teacher are knowledge, skill and ethics.
Registrar of VTU Belagavi Dr B E Rangaswamy recalled the achievements of Sir Visveswaraiah and Dr Radhakrishnan and briefed about their contribution to the nation, which he said, should inspire teachers and engineers..
Principal Dr B R Patagundi in his welcome address highlighted important incidents in the lives of Dr Visvesvaraiah and Dr Radhakrishnan. He also remembered Dr S G Balekundri’s contributions to the engineering sector of Karnataka. Prof Anita Patil, Prof Manjunath Sharanappanavar, and heads of departments and students were present at the event.
