Colvale police arrest Vasco woman in Rs 4 lakh jobs-for-cash scam

MAPUSA

The Colvale police arrested Uma Patil of Baina-Vasco on Wednesday, in connection with a job-for-cash scam following a complaint filed by a woman from Nadora.

The Mapusa court has remanded Patil to five days of police custody for further investigation.

According to the complaint, filed on November 14, Patil allegedly cheated the complainant's husband out of Rs 4 lakh last year in August, promising him a job that has yet to materialise.

The complainant also alleged that the borrowed amount has not been repaid.

The Colvale police registered the case shortly after receiving the complaint.

At the time, Patil was already in Vasco police custody for questioning in connection with another case.

Following her arrest, the Colvale police secured a court order for her custody to advance their investigation. Officials confirmed that a detailed inquiry into the allegations is underway.
