Cong has taken note of Margao workers sentiments: Girish

MARGAO
With the December 5 deadline set by the Margao block Congress  workers to State Congress president, Girish Chodankar to condemn the  recent statements directed at Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, the  GPCC chief on Friday said the party leadership has taken note of the  sentiments of the workers from Margao.

He, however, said there are comments which the party tend to ignore and comments which requires to be clarified and condemned.

The  GPCC chief told the media on the sidelines of a function at Benaulim  that he discussed the matter with Leader of the Opposition and Margao  MLA, Digambar Kamat when they met on Friday at a programme.

“Kamat has said  he has no problem with the matter, but that his workers had raised the  issues to be addressed by the party leadership. We have taken note of  the sentiments expressed by the party workers from the market. There’s nothing wrong

in the workers expressing their sentiments since they had  done so at the proper forum at the block,” Chodankar said.

When asked  why he or the party did not deem fit to clarify or condemn the  statements made by Congress-turned-BJP leader Urfan Mulla directed at the  Opposition leader, the GPCC chief made it clear that he does not react  to each and every issue that comes up concerning the party and the  leaders.

“Recently, I was attacked by some people, but neither I nor the party did not even replied to these allegations”, he recalled.

“I  have discussed the issues raised by the party workers from Margao with  the Opposition leader. I understand their sentiments and the party has  taken note of the same”, he added.

Opposition leader, Digambar Kamat  said that party workers from Margao had expressed their sentiments at  the block meeting, adding that it does not bother him whether the party  leadership condemns Mulla’s statement or not.
