The Congress on Wednesday criticised the move of the University Grants Commission (UGC) to de-reserve posts of assistant professors if SC, ST and OBC candidates are not found.
NSUI president Naushad Chaudhary said, although the circular has been withdrawn, it exposes the anti-Bahujan role of the BJP government at the Centre using such institutions.
Chaudary was addressing a press conference alongwith GPYC president Joel Andrade, Ehraj Mulla and Nitin Patkar where he said, the UGC had uploaded the order canceling the reservation on its website but removed it after a backlash.
Chaudury alleged that the circular was perhaps withdrawn only because of the approaching general elections and will be brought back later.
The youth leaders of the Congress alleged that the BJP has shown its true face dividing the 'Bahujan Samaj' and urged its members to defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections.
