MARGAO
South Goa Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant on Monday said that the police would launch a crackdown on delivery boys of food delivery online platforms under the Motor Vehicles Act for speeding on the roads and posing a danger to other motorists.
The SP pointed out that the South Goa police had conducted a sensitisation programme for the delivery boys of online delivery platforms in view of complaints that the delivery boys are virtually involved in racing to reach customers within a set deadline. “We are aware that the delivery boys of online delivery platforms are riding at high speeds to reach customers on time. Hence, we have conducted a sensitisation programme for the delivery boys to inform them about road safety precautions. The police have also conducted an enforcement drive to check for over-speeding by the delivery boys,” she said.
Saying that the police are observing Road Safety Week, the district police chief stated that the men-in-uniform would once again take up the enforcement drive against over-speeding.
