CANACONA
Covid cases continued to be on the decline in Canacona since the last three days, after 21 tested positive from 94 tests conducted in the taluka.
According to Canacona Health Officer Dr Jose Tavares, 65 antigen and 29 RT-PCR tests were conducted and 21 tested positive, on Tuesday only 9 persons from 80 tests conducted were detected with the virus.
All 21 Covid patients who tested positive on Wednesday are under home isolation.
A 55-year-old person, however, succumbed to Covid-related complications on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 28 in Canacona.
With 2,152 of the 2,546 people having recovered from the virus, there are 366 active cases presently in the taluka and most of them are in home isolation.
Meanwhile, 493 people in the 18-44 age group have received their first dose of the Covid vaccination.
Only 48 persons in the 45-plus age group turned up to take their first dose of the vaccination at Government Higher Secondary School, Mastimoll, on Wednesday.
The special vaccination drives scheduled at Agonda and Khola have been postponed due to bad weather.
