Chicalim Sub District Hospital Health Officer Dr Rajendra Borkar on Friday said the Covid scenario had improved in Vasco, but cases had spread to villages.
“Covid cases started at Mangor in Vasco and spread all over Goa, but today I am happy to say that the situation in Vasco is much better, but we are equally sad that Covid is spreading to remote villages.”
“People coming to test themselves in Vasco have reduced, but the positivity percentage has not decreased and sometimes, people do not want to test themselves or are scared of being sent to a Covid care centre.”
“We will attempt to have more awareness on the issue so that more people can get themselves tested and isolated and we can control this pandemic,” said Borkar.
Dr Borkar said the health department wanted to inform people that lives were still at risk till such time a vaccine or an effective and specific drug on Covid was launched.
“We must remember that lives are still in danger and though markets and other businesses have opened, people should not step out until and unless it is extremely important.”
“While the government has opened a lot of business and services, it is each one’s responsibility to take care of themselves and their near and dear ones,” said Dr Borkar.
