Teams of the Goa Police's Crime Branch on Thursday netted ganja worth Rs 8.5 lakhs in two separate raids.
In the first raid, the Crime Branch team nabbed an Uttarakhand native from his rented apartment close to the Margao Railway station. Some 4.862 kgs of a green coloured leafy substance, suspected to be ganja, was found in his possession.
Crime Branch said the 23-year-old Uttarakhand native has been identified as Rahul Mishra and temporarily resided in a rented premises near the Margao Railway station.
Meanwhile, in a separate raid the Crime Branch team arrested a businessman from Uttar Pradesh in an area close to the Village Panchayat at Verna.
The UP businessman, Manish Seth, around 26 years old, was found with 3.768 kgs of ganja worth Rs 3.77 lakh in his possession.
The team also attached his two-wheeler and a mobile phone. He was residing in the Vodlem Bhat area of Verna.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch raided a gambling den at Goa Velha and arrested 3 persons and seized cash to the tune of Rs 1.01 lakh.
