Curfew extended till Aug 30, movie theatres to open

The State administration has further relaxed the curfew conditions and permitted movie theatres to open from Monday, albeit at 50 per-cent capacity, in the order issued on Sunday extending the ongoing State level curfew until August 30.  

In the order issued under section 144 of the CrPC, the respective district magistrates have said cinema halls will remain shut only beyond 50 per-cent of their capacities.  

All other restrictions in force to date will continue as was the case since the State-wide curfew was first imposed on May 9 at the peak of the deadly second wave.  

Meanwhile, Covid-19 claimed another victim, a 50-year-old succumbing on early Sunday, taking Goa’s cumulative death toll to 3185.   

Also, the health bulletin said, 76 new infections were reported from the 3,854 samples tested in the 24-hour reporting period of Saturday-Sunday.  

The DHS also reported 91 recoveries and said, the active Covid-19 cases in Goa currently are 899.
