Decision to join TMC wrong: Churchill

PANAJI

TMC leader and losing candidate from Benaulim constituency Churchill Alemao has admitted that his decision to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the Assembly elections was wrong, but said he had not decided on whether he would remain in the party or not .

"The TMC has done many things which have gone wrong. I took the wrong decision to join TMC,” said Alemao.

"I am, however, yet to decide on whether to remain in the TMC or not,” he said.

Alemao, however, praised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who was sworn-in on Monday.

Alemao, who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, said he is happy that Pramod Sawant has become chief minister.

"I don't want to talk about how I lost in Benaulim or what happened in Benaulim constituency on the occasion, but I am happy that Pramod Sawant has become CM,” said Alemao, while speaking to media persons.

"He has been criticised because he is from the Bahujan Samaj. He has handled the State very well during the Covid pandemic,” said Alemao.

“If a leader from the Bahujan Samaj runs the government, then justice will be given to all communities by the government,” he added.

“CM Sawant will do better over the next five years. He has good control over the administration,” Alemao added.

When asked if he would consider the Lok Sabha elections in future, Alemao said: “That decision will be taken at the right moment.”
