Devotees of Lord Damodar, Margao’s Presiding deity, on Thursday called for naming of the traffic circle near the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao as Dambab circle or Shree Damodar circle at the earliest.
Led by Dilip Nayak, Mandar Sanvordekar and others, the devotees assembled near the Ravindra Bhavan circle on Thursday evening to put forth their request for naming the circle as Dambab circle.
Dilip told the media that the delegation would later call on the Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai and the Margao Municipal Council with a plea to name the circle as Dambab Circle. “The MMC has in the recent past named many roads and circles after personalities and religious figures. We have absolutely no problem with the decision of the civic body. Our only demand is to name the Ravindra Bhavan circle as Dambab circle after the Presiding deity,” Dilip said.
The delegation later called on the Fatorda MLA and submitted a petition requesting for the naming of the circle as Dambab circle.
In fact, the delegation urged the MLA to organise in order to develop the circle with a beautiful aesthetic architectural design since it is a main circle joining roads from Borda, Colva and Ponda, etc with a good scope for beautification.
