MARGAO
South Goa district Congress member led by President Joe Dias staged a protest dharna near the Mohidin petrol pump in the city here on Thursday evening.
Shouting slogans against the recent hike in the prices of petrol, the Congress workers demanded an immediate roll back of the hike and give relief to the common man.
Addressing the workers, the South Goa district president blamed the BJP governments at the Centre and in Goa for financial mismanagement resulting in the present economic state of affairs. He said both the Centre and the State government has levied heavy taxes on petrol and diesel, pushing the prices to an all-time high.
Demanding an immediate roll back in the fuel prices, Joe warned the BJP government that the people of Goa would teach the party a lesson in the ensuing Assembly polls.
In his address, district Congress vice-president and Paroda Sarpanch Deepak Kharangate said the recent hike in fuel has resulted in inflation in the economy, putting the common man to great hardships.
