VASCO
While private gymnasiums have been allowed to reopen in the State after the nationwide Unlock 4.0, many people have wondered why the government gym managed by the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) continues to remain closed at Tilak Maidan in Vasco.
Speaking to reporters, Ramesh Parab said private gyms had reopened and were charging a huge amount, which was not feasible for locals amid the pandemic.
"Besides reopening institutions and borders, the government has also reopened private gyms and despite this, the government gyms have not opened. This is ridiculous.”
“We want to know what has stopped the government from restarting its gyms. As of now, even the bars have opened but the gym has not opened," said Parab.
Added another resident Deepak Tejam: “We request the government to reopen the gym at Vasco so that it can benefit all who are looking to exercise and are enrolled with the SAG gym.”
A resident who had been a regular at the SAG gym said they had been keenly awaiting the gym to reopen.
“After Unlock 4.0, the private gyms have reopened, but we are yet to be allowed at the SAG gym. Each time we call, we are informed that the gym is not reopened as yet,” said the resident.
