In a landmark achievement for healthcare in the region, North Goa District Hospital successfully performed its first Arthroscopic ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction ” a minimally invasive keyhole surgery designed to repair a torn ligament in the knee.
The procedure was executed with precision by a skilled team led by Dr Vikas Solyekar (Orthopaedic Surgeon, Head of Department) along with Dr Anish Verenekar, using advanced arthroscopy guidance. This innovative approach involved two small incisions, or portals, to access and repair the damaged ligament.
Arthroscopy has revolutionised orthopaedic care, offering patients faster recovery, reduced post-operative pain, and minimal scarring compared to traditional open surgeries.
The ACL, a critical ligament providing stability to the knee, is prone to tears, especially in athletes and active individuals.
The successful completion of this procedure at North Goa District Hospital marks a significant step forward in providing world-class healthcare in the region.
