Duo held for job scam remanded to 5-day custody by Margao court

The two women arrested by the Margao Police in the jobs-for-cash scam on Thursday have been remanded to five days in police custody by the local court on Friday.

The police had arrested Vishaya Vishnu Gawde, a resident of Sao Jose de Areal and Soniya alias Roshan Somnath Achari, a resident of Sadashivgad-Karwar, under section 420 read with section 34 of IPC.

The police action came after a complaint was lodged by one Sunil Borkar, a resident of Nagmoddem-Navelim, Salcete, against the two women.

In his complaint, Borkar claimed that the duo induced him to pay an amount of Rs 16,12,500 on the pretext of providing a job at Karwar-Karnataka.
