A 73-year-old cyclist lost his life in a road mishap at Verna on Wednesday.
According to sources at Verna Police station, the accident occurred at Senaulim, as Mohammed Arfan Khan (35) of Chimbel was moving from Verna Church side towards Margao on a scooter.
On reaching Senaulim, the scooter struck Antonio Mascarenhas of Shirlim-Verna, who was moving on a cycle in the same direction. Mascarenhas sustained injuries in the accident and was shifted to GMC hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment.
Verna police have registered a case of accident under Section 279,304(A) of IPC and PSI Anand Shirodkar is investigating under the supervision of PI Melson Colaco and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
