FDA cracks down on illegal biryani stalls in Calangute

MAPUSA

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken action against stalls selling biryani illegally in open and unhygienic areas in Calangute. Authorities seized equipment from seven stalls.

The raid was carried out by food safety officials led by FDA officer Richard Noronha on Friday morning.

Biryani was being sold without the FDA’s permission.

Some stall holders were operating their businesses by setting up small stalls in front of luxury hotels.

The vendors did not obtain the necessary legal permissions.

The area around the stalls was dirty, prompting the authorities to intervene.

The seized biryani was disposed of by FDA officials with assistance from the Calangute Panchayat.
