Inspection of the stadium premises and outside by forest personnel has revealed that the stadium is free from snakes and reptiles.
Forest personnel, however, removed a couple of beehives in the vicinity of the Nehru stadium, which will play host to the inaugural program of the National Games to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The personnel has also burst fire crackers in the last two days to drive away the Brahminy Kites hovering over the stadium.
Following directions issued by the district authorities, forest officials drafted personnel at the stadium and outside to ensure the stadium is snake and beehive free. While no snakes were found inside the stadium, the forest personnel removed two beehives in close vicinity to the stadium.
As far as the Brahminy Kites are concerned, the Nehru stadium plays host to such kites when they come to feast on insects at the stadium. “The Nehru stadium attracts the Brahminy Kites, which feed on insects. For the last two days, we tried to drive away these kites by bursting fire crackers and were successful. Given that the stadium will be attended by thousands of people and the entire area will play host to illumination and sound, the kites will stay away from the stadium”, informed an official.
