French teachers lack skills in foreign language tools: Study

The recent study by the Goa University has observed that the French language teachers in the State lack knowledge and skills in using foreign language tools. 

The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), while proposing a training workshop for French language teachers for Class IX to XII, said that the Varsity in its study has reported that overall techno-pedagogical of French Language teachers in Goa were generally high.

“However, the teachers lack knowledge and skills in specifically using tools for foreign languages,” the Board said.

The Board has roped in Goa University, IATF and Alliance Francaise to hold a day long workshop for French teachers with a hope to cater to the specific needs of the teachers.

The Board also said that the use of technology in education, including audio-visual aids, to promote flexible teaching methods is emphasized in NEP 2020.

“Clause 5.15 of NEP emphasizes that teachers, educators and schools heads require suitable training to be effective online educators,” the Board said.

The workshop scheduled on November 25, aims to provide teachers with specific technology-based skills.
