OLD GOA
Four persons were injured in an accident involving four vehicles at Old Goa on Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, a tempo carrying soft drinks collided with two bikes and a taxi, and then fell on its side right in the middle of the road, thereby blocking traffic along the Old Goa to Corlim highway road.
In the mishap, four persons got injured including the woman who was riding one of the bikes. The woman apparently suffered serious injuries.
The Old Goa police and the Old Goa fire personnel arrived at the site and helped shift the victims to the GMC hospital.
The tempo was proceeding from Corlim towards Old Goa while the other vehicles involved were travelling in the opposite direction.
Soft drinks cans and bottles were strewn all over the mishap site, with some persons taking away the soft drinks cans and bottles.
However, the mishap resulted in major traffic jam on both sides of the highway road, at Old Goa and Corlim.
The Old Goa fire tender was then used to shift the fallen tempo to one side of the road and the other side of the road was opened for traffic.
Later, a crane was used to lift the tempo to place it on the roadside after which traffic was opened on both sides of the highway.
The traffic police also arrived at the site and helped in controlling the traffic.
