GFP calls on people to take forward their vision of Goa

MARGAO

Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has urged Goa to “look ahead to a future that incorporates your vision, your opinions and your aspirations.”

While addressing all Goans”encompassing a large fraternity at home and abroad, reflecting his concept of ‘Goemkars Without Borders’ ”on the eve of Goa’s 34th statehood day, Sardesdai motivated the people to believe in their acumen, competence and capability saying, “we need a future that encourages progress and identity so that all Goans can fulfil their aspirations and live prosperous lives.”

In his address, Vijai pointed out that 34 years ago Goa celebrated its statehood which resulted from the successful Opinion Poll held by Dr Jack de Sequeira, which made Goa “a special part of India that represented a unique lifestyle, intelligent people and a compassionate society.” He stated that throughout the state’s history, Goa has had its ups and downs, “but always found a way to bounce back.”

“Goa is in deep trouble from the impact of COVID-19 and also from the failure of governance by the

current government”, he said, while criticizing the government’s “misplaced priorities in battling the

pandemic” saying it has “taken every step to further impose more suffering on hapless Goans.”

Vijai extended his thoughts and prayers to all those battling the virus and those who have lost a loved

family member, and called on the people to remain firm and resilient.

The GFP Chief also lauded the bravery of Goa’s youth and praised their courage and determination during the Save Mollem movement.  “Our children from the Save Mollem movement made us all proud of who we are as a community, and what we stand for as a state. But more importantly, it made us realise and think about the future we want for Goa.” Sardesai affirmed that the people’s voice and support helped keep the reckless government in check and “collectively stop its fast track sale of Goa.”

Vijai Sardesai also outlined his vision for Goa saying he wants to chart an effective and achievable way-forward to sustain Goa’s way of life, economy, and people. He added that Goa needs to “recover from the mess of COVID-19 and immediately equip all Goemkars with the skills inevitable to take their lives ahead.”
