GFP extends support, slams govt for imposing project on people

OLD GOA

Goa Forward Party (GFP) has extended its support to the Khandepar locals in opposition to the bhandara  project thrust on the people against their wishes.

GFP chief Vijai Sardessai reached out to the Khandepar locals where they were protesting at Azad Maidan, on Thursday, and assured that his party will always back the locals in opposition to the project.

“The BJP government is known to impose projects on the people despite opposition,” claimed Sardessai.

“On one side they are talking about protection of Sanatan dharma and on the other, they have imposed Section 144 in Khandepar during the Ganesh Chaturthi, which will deprive the locals of celebrating the festival,” Sardessai opined.

“They are garnering votes in the names of Hindus and getting elected, and then we see such types of episodes where curfew is imposed during Chaturthi,” said the MLA.

Sardessai then appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to immediately withdraw Section 144 so that the people are able to celebrate Ganesh festival with fervour.

He also assured that the GFP will always back the locals of Khandepar till the government bows down to their demands.

Meanwhile, GAKUVED Federation, Goa Kul Mundkar Sangarsh Samiti and various activists also extended their support to the Khandepar locals.
