Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar on Monday said, he has urged the All India Congress Committee (AICC) Goa in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao to probe the allegations of misappropriation of party funds with a rider that the investigation be headed by Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, the party's Curtorim legislator who made the charges.
"I have called Dinesh Gundu Rao and urged him to start an enquiry into these allegations," Chodankar who addressed a press conference along with Opposition Leader Digamber Kamat at the party headquarters in Panaji, said.
Chodankar added that he had also requested Rao to appoint Reginaldo as the head of the enquiry committee.
"Reginaldo should head the enquiry. The investigation report should be submitted in 15 days, so that no one has any doubts. Transparency is very important," Chodankar said.
The GPCC chief, who is facing calls from an influential section of the party to be replaced, said after he took charge as State Congress president three years back, he had begun the protocol of monthly submission of party accounts.
