GMPF to hold silent protest march tomorrow

To mark 3 years completion of loss of livelihoods of 3 lakh mining dependents with no solution in sight, Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) along with its constituents has initiated a peaceful protest march on February 8, from Kadamba Bus Stand to Azad Maidan, Panaji, from 9 am onwards, to showcase anger over the inaction by the policy makers to restart mining in 
the State.

Through the protest, mining dependents aim to highlight the plight of Goans. All mining activities in the State got hung after Supreme Court on 7th February 2018 passed an order cancelling 88 iron ore mining leases in the State that were renewed by the government in 2014-2015.

MARGAO In an interesting development, the Madgaum Urban Cooperative Bank (MUCB) has decided to hold the 48th adjourned Annual General virtual meeting of the bank on February 21.In a notice, MUCB Managing Director Kishore Amonkar said that members who are part of the adjournment meeting have been requested to go to the closest branch and submit their applications for attending the “virtual meeting” on February 21 and collect the procedural guidelines.The notice stated…
