PANAJI
To mark 3 years completion of loss of livelihoods of 3 lakh mining dependents with no solution in sight, Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) along with its constituents has initiated a peaceful protest march on February 8, from Kadamba Bus Stand to Azad Maidan, Panaji, from 9 am onwards, to showcase anger over the inaction by the policy makers to restart mining in the State.
Through the protest, mining dependents aim to highlight the plight of Goans. All mining activities in the State got hung after Supreme Court on 7th February 2018 passed an order cancelling 88 iron ore mining leases in the State that were renewed by the government in 2014-2015.
