Accusing the BJP-led government of indulging in politics over the garbage issue, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday called for the resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant if the Urban Development department cannot accord approval for the seven biomethanation plants cleared by the Goa Waste Management Corporation.
Sardesai told the media that either the MMC proposal of the seven biomethanation plants cleared by the GWMC headed by the Chief Minister is awaiting administrative approval from the Urban Development Ministry because of politics or the file is being kept pending allegedly because someone is expecting kickbacks from the project.
“How has the GWMC cleared project not found favour with the Urban Development ministry till date? This is indeed surprising. Why you require technical approval from the Urban Development department when you have formed a separate minister to deal with issues relating to waste management?” Sardesai questioned.
