Goa pavilion inaugurated at India International Trade Fair

 The Goa State Pavilion set up at the 40th edition of India International Trade Fair being organised by India Trade Promotion organisation (ITPO) was inaugurated at iconic Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday.

Information Assistant, Pooja Palyekar Dhargalkar from Department of Information and Publicity (DIP) inaugurated the Goa Pavilion by cutting the ribbon in the presence of Administration Officer, Sadashiv Narayan Pandit from Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (Goa-IPB), Information Assistant, Ranjana Malik from DIP, Assistant Manager, Deepa Sawkar from Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), Information Assistant and Juliet Fernandes attached to Department of Tourism. 

This prestigious trade fair is one of the most awaited business events in the South Asia region which could not be held last year due to Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. The fair held annually is witnessed by Delhites and visitors from across the country.  The fair will conclude on November 27.

The Goa pavilion is erected on an area of 60 Sqm in the hall No 3F bare space at Pragati Maidan which is aesthetically designed depicting Goan architecture and showcasing the development, achievements, initiatives, social welfare schemes of the State government with the flavour of this year’s IITF theme “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” (Self- Reliant India) the Vision of New India. 

The Department of Information & Publicity is the nodal agency for the participation of Goa State in IITF, an annual mega trade fair which plays a key role in facilitating and coordinating with other participating departments and corporations for setting up the stall and conducting allied activities during the 14 days IITF period. 

Apart from DIP other five Departments such as Department of Tourism, Department of Handicrafts, Textile and Coir, Directorate of Industries Trade and Commerce, Goa Tourism Development Corporation and Goa Investment Promotion Facilitation Board and Goa Industrial Development Corporation have participated in this mega trade fair.

 Advertising Associates one of the reputed agencies from Goa has executed the work of conceptualizing, designing, erection, maintenance and management of Goa Pavilion and allied activities.

 Apart from the day-to-day activities, there will be cultural performances by the Goan folk artists depicting the rich cultural traditions and sale of Goan Handicrafts and artifacts by the artisans. 

Besides the rich cultural heritage, hospitality will be projected and efforts will be made to promote Goa as an international tourist destination and attract investment to boost industrial growth and tourism activity in Goa in a big way.

 On the occasion, a brochure brought out incorporating achievements and initiatives by the government towards Swayampurna Goa, the rich culture, festivals and 60 years of Goa’s liberation was released by Sadashiv Pandit .

 It is pertinent to note that prior to the inauguration of Goa pavilion the India International Trade Fair was inaugurated by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Piyush Goyal as per the prevailing practice and subsequently the participating states and union territories besides foreign countries inaugurated their stalls.

In the past the Goa pavilion won prizes having been adjudged as the best pavilion for excellent display among the smaller States in the country.
