Accusing the Congress of zero contribution towards the development of Goa, Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways said that Goa will get a whopping Rs 3,152 crore for the Financial Year 2022-23, an amount which has seen a considerable rise every year under the BJP-regime. Shripad was speaking at a press conference held in Panaji on Saturday.
“Earlier, during the Congress period, in 2013-14, this grant was only Rs 432 crore. BJP’s double engine government at the Center and in the states has given a boost to all round development. Goa is getting huge grants from the Center. At the same time, crores of rupees are being allotted for various sectors,” he said.
Applauded the futuristic Budget presented by Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP Goa in-charge, CT Ravi said the Budget will strengthen the foundation of a self-reliant India. “This budget is very beneficial for Goa. We have so far received Rs 4,000 crore financial assistance and Goa's subsidy has increased seven-fold due to the double-engine government,” he said.
Stating that substantial investments have also been made in healthcare, Naik said, “This year’s budget is a catalyst for economic growth and job creation. Having said that it also provides opportunities for competitive development in the field of Cooperation. Under the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme, 80 lakh houses will be constructed and a separate provision is also made to provide clean water to each household.”
Naik claimed that India is going to be a strong country and successful in handling economic issues in the near future while it is also promoting small scale entrepreneurs and the concept of digital university. “In next three years, several centers will be set up across the country under the PM Gati Shakti Yojna and some of them will be in Goa as well,” he added.
Stating that the Congress government was a disaster for Goa because it did nothing for farmers, education, youth, women and labourers, etc, Naik said that ever since BJP came to power at the Centre, Goa has been getting attention. “Development done will be appreciated by the people in the coming elections and the BJP government in Goa will come to power once again,” he said.
