Goans advised to avoid Belagavi amid Karnataka bandh on March 22

Belagavi: Goans planning to visit Belagavi this weekend may need to reconsider their travel plans as pro-Kannada organizations, led by activist Vatal Nagaraj, have called for a statewide bandh in Karnataka tomorrow. The protest is in response to recent attacks on KSRTC bus drivers and conductors by pro-Marathi activists in Maharashtra.

The bandh will be observed from 6 am to 6 pm, with demonstrations planned across Karnataka, including a protest march from Town Hall to Freedom Park in Bengaluru at 10:30 am. In Belagavi, activists are expected to take out a protest rally to the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

Authorities have ramped up security, with Belagavi Police Commissioner Iada Martina Marbaniang confirming the deployment of additional forces to maintain law and order.
