Goa received a pat on its back on Sunday when Prime Minister, Narendra Modi took cognizance of the State’s attempt to harness solar energy terming it as a good step.
Modi said that Goa’s solar rooftop portal is good step towards harnessing solar energy and furthering sustainable development.
Goa’s solar rooftop online portal goasolar.in has been developed by Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) in association with Department of New & Renewable Energy and Electricity Department.
In reply to a tweet threads by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the Prime Minister tweeted: “Good step towards harnessing solar energy and furthering sustainable development.”
It may be recalled that Power Minister Ramkrishna (Sudhin) Dhavalikar had told the Goa Legislative Assembly that all government buildings in the capital city of Panaji will be solar powered by 2024.
Dhavalikar also said the target of the government was to source 150 MW of power through solar energy by 2030.
He also revealed that all government buildings in Panaji will be fixed with solar roof tops which will be completed by March 2024
Dhavalikar had also mentioned that the government was planning to go for an open tendering process and the work would begin from this financial year.
